Good morning and Happy Saturday!
Some thoughts as we head into tomorrow’s worship gathering and keep thinking together about what it means for us to be a faith community here and now, 250 years after our church was founded!
As we celebrate our 250th anniversary throughout 2019, one of the things we are doing is renewing and recommitting to the missional nature of what it means to be Christ’s Church at Lowhill. We’ve been faithful in mission for a long time, but it’s always good to rethink how we do what we do and how we might become more vital and connected — to the community and each other.
I think the three parts of our church’s name can help guide this commitment. First and foremost, we are Christ’s. As people and as a congregation, we are striving to follow Jesus, and in that relationship, we are finding new life. Second, we are church. We are a gathering of folks from all kinds of backgrounds seeking to follow God in the way of Jesus. Just as important as being Christ’s and being church is that we are blessed to situated in a specific time and place. We’re proud of our historic roots in Lowhill township, Lehigh County, and the Lehigh Valley in general. Our members and friends come from all over the Lehigh Valley and beyond, and our ministry and mission programs seek to bless our local community as well as regional, national, and international communities.
I hope you can and will join us on this exciting and unfolding journey!
Let’s talk more tomorrow! Coffee and Conversation as well as kids’ Sunday School both start at 9; worship starts at 10!
